Wire and Tube 2006 close to visitor record and highly satisfied exhibitors

GERMANY — At the concurrent staging of wire 2006, International Wire and Cable Trade Fair, and tubelogoTube 2006, International Tube and Pipe Trade Fair, 1,933 exhibitors from 50 nations showcased their latest products to a record 65,000 visitors from 84 countries. The number of visitors marks an increase of 4,000 attendees compared to the shows’ last staging in 2004 and exhibitor participation rose by 233 companies. Exhibitors gave wire and Tube 2006 top ratings and expect a good post-show business. The trade fairs were recently held at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

"The excellent result of wire and Tube emphasizes the worldwide importance of the two No. 1 trade fairs for the wire, cable, tube and pipe manufacturing industries,” said Wilhelm Niedergöker, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf. “Exhibitors and visitors commented extremely positive about the shows and reported new, interesting and promising business contacts.”

The visitor and exhibitor participation at wire and Tube 2006 was very international: about 60 percent of the guests at wire 2006 and more than 50 percent of the guests at Tube 2006 were from outside of Germany.

GDS is an important information and ordering point for the footwear industry worldwide. Around 30,000 trade visitors from over 70 nations are expected to come to Düsseldorf to view the latest styles and trends on display by around 1,300 exhibitors.

This 102nd staging of GDS will reveal what's hot for the Spring / Summer 2007 seasons.

But shoes are seldom found alone - often they are presented together with matching clothes and the right accessories. Therefore, in the fashion shows at GDS, shoes can be seen as part of complete outfits. Fashion shows will take place several times a day, providing everyone with the most important information for the new season.


The 1,101 exhibitors at wire 2006 came from 48 countries – with 71 percent of the companies arriving from outside of Germany. The leading foreign exhibitor nations were Italy (178 companies), the U.S. (72), Great Britain (59) and France (46). The number of U.S. companies includes 29 exhibitors within the North American Pavilion, organized by Messe Düsseldorf North America (MDNA) and co-sponsored by the Wire and Cable Industry Suppliers Association (WCISA). A total of 66 percent of the 829 Tube 2006 exhibitors were from countries other than Germany, with the majority coming from Italy (119), China (54), the U.S. and India (34 each) and the Netherlands (30). The North American Pavilion at Tube 2006 featured 15 companies and was also organized by MDNA and co-sponsored by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).

Visitors from 71 countries traveled to wire 2006 while visitors at Tube 2006 came from 64 nations. As in the past, a large number of the wire 2006 visitors were from Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the U.S. and Asia (primarily from China and India). Most of the visitors at Tube 2006 arrived from Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain, North America, South America, Central America and Asia.

The positive mood in the halls during wire and Tube 2006 was reflected in the visitors’ ratings: 99 percent of the attendees gave the trade fairs high marks. At wire 2006, visitors were mainly interested in machinery and equipment for wire manufacturing and finishing, process technology tools as well as materials, special wires and cables. The main focus of the Tube 2006 attendees was on tubes, pipes and accessories, tube and pipe manufacturing and processing machinery and raw materials. A high percentage of the visitors were from the industry (80 percent at wire, 60 percent at Tube).

The next staging of wire and Tube will take place in April 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Record results at China Med 2006

CHINA — At the recent staging of China Med 2006, International Medical Instruments and Equipment Exhibition, in Beijing, 595 exhibitors displayed their products on 323,000 square feet to 30,000 visitors. Especially the increase in overseas trade buyers further improved the event’s international profile and confirmed its position as a leading platform for overseas companies to enter the Chinese healthcare market.

 The trade fair was jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf China, the Medical Department of the General Logistics Department, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, the China World Trade Center Co. and the China Hui Tong (Group) Corporation.

Highlights at China Med 2006 were the six country group exhibits. With the support of MEDICA, the world’s leading medical trade fair and its organizer Messe Düsseldorf, 25 German medical appliances manufacturers exhibited within the joint German country exhibit. With the assistance of the Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy, a group of U.S. companies showcased their technologies. Japan, Spain, Korea and Finland were represented by the other four country group exhibits.

China Med 2006 introduced two special shows: the exhibit for Health IT Technology and Application and the “Medical Consumables Hall”.

China Med 2006 also featured an extensive ancillary program, consisting of 52 conferences and seminars. Topics included imaging, orthopedics and medical equipment investment - with focus on worldwide innovative medical technologies.
