Zack Snyder to receive ShoWest Director of the Year

LOS ANGELES — Zack Snyder will receive the ShoWest 2009 Director of the Year Award, it was announced recently by Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event, which will be held March 30-April 2 in Las Vegas.  Snyder will be presented with the ShoWest Director of the Year Award at ShoWest's Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 2 at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.

Zack Snyder "Since breaking onto the scene in 2004 with the box office hit "Dawn of the Dead," Zack Snyder has developed a bold, distinctive moviemaking style that has received critical acclaim and has generated box office success around the world," said Neuhauser. "His continued dedication to providing audiences with groundbreaking films is unparalleled and we could not be more thrilled to honor Zack Snyder as the ShoWest 2009 Director of the Year."

Snyder's most recent project is set for release today. "Watchmen" is the anticipated, multi-layered mystery adventure, based on the award-winning graphic novel. A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, the film is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" — which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is set at five minutes to midnight.  When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes.  As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future.  Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the Watchmen?

Snyder made his feature film directorial debut with the 2004 horror thriller "Dawn of the Dead," which topped the box office on its opening weekend. The film brought Snyder widespread acclaim from critics and audiences and was nominated for the Camera d'Or Prize at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Snyder followed up this success with the Warner Bros. 2007 worldwide blockbuster "300.". Exponents system used in award-winning exhibit

Exponents boothWHITMORE, Mi. — Lindsay Exhibit Group, Inc., a Michigan exhibit company, and Exponents, Inc. have won an ADDY award for a booth that was constructed with components from the LUMITURE exhibit system. The ADDY Awards are the world’s largest advertising competition and are conducted by the American Advertising Federation. Lindsay Exhibit Group and Exponents won the award from the Ann Arbor Ad Club for their exhibit for ePlan Software, one of Michigan’s leading software companies.

Lindsay Exhibit Group vice-president Tracy Lindsay created the concept for the 20-foot-by-20-foot display. “I wanted the exhibit to showcase the fluidity of ePlan software while maintaining the practical trade show sales needs of the client,” she explained. Working closely with the Exponents, Inc. design team, Lindsay’s preliminary sketches for the exhibit were quickly brought to life with components from the LUMITURE system.

LUMITURE consists of large vertical frames and horizontal ceilings that are lighted from within. With light radiating from the structure itself, the overall effect is extremely dramatic. Lindsay chose an 8'x8' LUMITURE graphics frame to act as the main focal point of the ePlan exhibit. Also in the booth were two Exponents workstations with large video monitors, an information station and a table and four chairs.

MC2’s 'Leave an Impression Not a Footprint'
Offers Tips to Go Digital

MC ADCHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y. — MC2, a nationally recognized exhibit and event marketing company, released today Leave an Impression Not a Footprint: Tips on how to expand your reach-not a landfill-with digital collateral in your trade show program.  The complimentary guide addresses the environmental, economic and social benefits of switching from printed to digital marketing materials.

Developed for marketing executives, the new guide is the third in the series of quick tips on how to continue trade show and marketing programs in a challenging economy.

MC2's Leave an Impression Not a Footprint is available for download at www.mc-2.com.

"In today's economy, it is critical marketing executives are more resourceful in executing trade show programs. When the majority of trade show marketing materials end up in the trash-this becomes an ineffective and expensive marketing tactic," said Rob Murphy, chief marketing officer, MC2.  "Digital collateral is an obvious solution for reducing the cost and environmental impact from printing and shipping materials. Equally important, going digital makes it easy to make a great impact and connect with audiences beyond the show."

MC2 has also developed a white paper, Eliminating Collateral Damage: Cut Costs, Not Marketing, which can be accessed within this email below the image on the left.

MC2 specializes in design, production and management of integrated marketing programs including events, exhibits, permanent and mobile environments and executive briefing centers. With 10 locations throughout the United States and alliances around the world, the company serves customers such as Canon USA, Samsung Electronics, Michelin North America, Pioneer Electronics, Fuji, and Rubbermaid.

EXHIBIT EXPERTISE

Siskind

Games in a trade show booth

By Barry Siskind

Visitors at a trade show quickly learn that there is simply too much information and too little time to absorb it all.  Often what peaks their interest is an exhibitor who moves away from pure information and gives this tired visitor a break by offering them some entertainment. We have all seen a plethora of games and contests that exhibitors have devised. It can be as simple as a putting green to some of the popular games like Guitar Hero or other X-box games.

So, the use of games has real value: it helps you stand out in the crowd of information clutter; it gives the visitor a well needed respite from the pressures of walking the show and it helps draw attention to your display.
