Discover Beauty Award goes to Barista Bath and Body

Beauty AwardLAS VEGAS — The coveted Discover Beauty Award was introduced to Cosmoprof North America’s successful Discover Beauty program in 2009.

During this year’s show, Discover Beauty brands – 13 in total – were judged on creativity, innovation and market readiness. The voting was done by specialty retailers such as Beauty Collection, C.O. Bigelow, Henri Bendel, Home Shopping Network, La Rinascente (Italy),Pure Beauty and STUDIO BEAUTYMIX, as well as various online beauty editors and bloggers from premium media outlets such as AOL Stylelist.com, DailyMakeover.com and TotalBeauty.com.

These industry leaders are constantly on the lookout for the next beauty trend and they knew Cosmoprof North America was the appropriate venue to “discover beauty.”

Announced at the Discover Beauty Party at MIX at THEhotel in Mandalay Bay, the recipient of the 2010 Discover Beauty Award was barista bath and body. barista bath and body, is the first full line of natural hair and skincare products to leverage the benefits of coffee appealing equally to men, women and coffee aficionados everywhere. The line was launched by three generations of successful businesswomen inspired by coffee and determined to bring performance-driven natural beauty products to the marketplace.

As a new beauty brand that was exhibiting at Cosmoprof North America in the Discover Beauty area, CEO of barista bath and Body, Christine Willett was not sure what to expect at the show. However, she was pleased with the feedback that she received from beauty retailers and spas. “The reception we got from buyers indicated that they were looking for a full, new brand.” It wasn’t only retailers and spa buyers that thought highly of the brand, the line was highlighted twice during the show by online beauty editors and bloggers. This year, show organizers unveiled the CPNA Best in Beauty program which gave exhibitors an opportunity to present their products to beauty bloggers and online editors at AOL Stylelist.com, DailyMakeover.com and TotalBeauty.com. barista bath and body was selected as the CPNA Best in Beauty brand on the first and second day of the show by AOL Stylelist.com and TotalBeauty.com, respectively.

The high caliber of brands hand-selected during this year’s show was appreciated by retail buyers from across the globe. Patrick Kenny of HSN stated, “Discover Beauty gives us many ideas and it provides a wonderful opportunity to meet new emerging brands one-on-one in a focused environment.” This sentiment was also expressed by Simone Destefanis of La Rinacente, an Italian luxury department store chain, “As far as the Discover Beauty meetings were concerned, it was a nice way to experience the brand. The one-to-one intimate meetings definitely allowed time to focus on what was being presented. In addition, participation in Discover Beauty as a whole was a great networking experience. Not only was it an opportunity for buyers to seek out new brands, but It was a good opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas with other professionals within the industry.”


Every year new and innovative brands are introduced to Cosmoprof North America’s attendees – retailers, spa and salon owners, spa directors and the media. For the last two years, the recipients of the Discover Beauty Award have watched their brands explode onto the beauty landscape.
