Russian Trade Fair duo creates positive impetus for metallurgy industry
CHICAGO — Despite the slump in global economic markets, exhibitors and visitors at Metallurgy-Litmash, Tube Russia, Aluminium Non-Ferrous 2009 and wire Russia 2009 rated the trade fairs as a source of positive impetus for the metallurgy industry.
Held on 86,100 square feet of net exhibit space at the Expocentre in Moscow, the two trade fairs attracted 9,200 visitors from Russia and surrounding regions. Metallurgy Litmash, Tube Russia and Aluminium/Non-Ferrous 2009 featured 254 exhibitors from 29 countries, while wire Russia 2009 presented the products of 214 companies from 29 nations. Special highlights were the country group exhibits from Austria, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Taiwan and the U.S.

Regardless of the economic crisis, Russia and its neighboring countries are among the fastest growing regions in the world. Demand for high quality products from international suppliers remains strong since state-of-the-art technology is still needed to upgrade existing facilities and investments are going ahead accordingly.
Experts from the leading industry associations such as the International Tube Association (ITA) consider Metallurgy-Litmash, Tube Russia, Aluminium/Non-Ferrous the ideal platform for establishing new contacts and deepening existing partnerships. On behalf of the numerous renowned industry associations that support the trade fair, the ITA commented: "Despite the background of extremely difficult trading conditions for the tube and pipe industry worldwide - and on the CIS and Ukrainian markets in particular - the International Tube Association (ITA) enjoyed a successful week at the exhibition. As industry partner to Messe Düsseldorf for all its major tube exhibitions worldwide, the ITA was very pleased that Tube Russia 2009 exceeded expectations and produced very positive results. In these demanding economic times, it is vitally important to maintain a high profile in key world markets such as the CIS and to offer support and guidance to the industry."
Both the International Wire and Machinery Association (IWMA) and the International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association (IWCEA) were pleased with the results of wire Russia 2009. IWMA "was pleasantly surprised at the level of enquiries obtained from organizations interested in the activities of the IWMA. The success of wire Russia 2009 fully justifies the executive board's decision to continue support for the event even in these difficult economic times." Heinz Rockenhäuser, President of IWCEA, stated: "In view of the economic crisis, the machinery and equipment manufacturers in our association were not very optimistic when they set out for Moscow. But despite these initial expectations, the majority of the exhibiting companies rated the trade show as positive."
The next staging of Metallurgy-Litmash, Tube Russia and Aluminium/Non-Ferrous will take place from May 24-27, 2010 in Moscow. wire Russia is scheduled again for spring 2011 in Moscow.
