Northshore Power Systems donates generators to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada

LAS VEGAS — More than just business takes place in a trade show booth. Sometimes groups are brought together by fate and something good happens.

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada receives its share of donations. Usually food or clothing is sent to the non-profit organizations. However, Catholic Charities has never received a portable generator. In fact, the Las Vegas office has never had a portable generator. It now has three.

GeneratorsLast month during the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, Northshore Power Systems, the exclusive licensee of Honeywell Generators based in Milwaukee, Wis. donated three portable generators to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada.
“This is a real gift to us,” said Sharon Mann, community relations director for Catholic Charities. “We have never had anyone donate a generator before.”

When planning ahead for the National Hardware Show, Northshore Power Systems wanted to make a donation to a charitable cause and one that would benefit from the use of a Honeywell generator.

With help from Ron Sonntag Public Relations, Northshore Power Systems was put in touch with Catholic Charities and arrangements were made to present the generators during the show at the Honeywell Booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“We are pleased to be able to provide Honeywell portable generators to Catholic Charities, who provide so many programs and services to people in need, regardless of race, religion or creed,” said CEO of Northshore Power Systems Dorrance Noonan. “They have not only helped a countless number of individuals in the five-county Las Vegas area, but also have provided aid and welcomed more than 5,000 displaced individuals from Hurricane Katrina. In an emergency situation where power is needed, our generators will allow them to continue to help others.”

Catholic Charities is part of the emergency team for the city of Las Vegas and serves as a center where people can come in case of a natural disaster, fire or other emergency situation.

“It just seemed to be a match and they do such good things,” said Joe Lauerman, marketing materials manager for Northshore Power Systems who, like the rest of the Honeywell management, employees and booth staff, did not meet Mann until the presentation on May 5.
